UNCG Department of Athletics contributes to Haiti relief efforts

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro Department of Athletics recently contributed to the Haiti relief efforts, raising money and assembling hygiene kits to help the victims of the earthquake-ravaged nation.

Every UNCG student-athlete, coach and athletic department staff member contributed $1 to the relief effort. In addition, the women's soccer team purchased T-shirts with profits going toward the cause, while the baseball team raised $100 for Pinch Hit for Haiti, an initiative set up by an Elon baseball player.

The money collected - $350 - was used to purchase hand towels, wash cloths, wide-tooth combs, nail clippers, soap, toothbrushes and adhesive bandages. UNCG held a hygiene kit assembly party on Feb. 19, with several Spartan student-athletes coming together to put together the kits, which each included $1 for shipping and $1 for toothpaste.
