GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro goalkeeper Kelsey Kearney injured her right knee in practice Thursday night and will not be available for this weekend's Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship.
Kearney, who was recently named to the All-Southern Conference Second Team, has started all 19 matches and posted a 0.80 goals against average this season. The sophomore from Durham, N.C., has made 64 saves, good for a .810 save percentage, and posted eight shutouts on the year. Kearney was a first-team All-SoCon selection as a freshman last season.
Sophomore Alex Perry will likely start in Kearney's place this weekend. Kearney's status beyond this weekend has not been determined.
Due to student-athlete privacy regulations, no further information will be released on Kearney's injury and UNCG staff will have no further comment.
The top-seeded Spartans (13-6) take on No. 4 seed Davidson at 7:30 p.m. Friday at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
