Attayek named SoCon Co-Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro’s Kelly Attayek was named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week for outstanding play in UNCG’s two shutout victories last week. The award is shared with Davidson forward Suzanne Sittko, who also led the Wildcats to two conference wins.

Attayek, a sophomore forward from Raleigh, NC, was awarded the recognition due to her exploits on the field in last week’s matches. She recorded one goal and one assist in the 7-0 victory over The Citadel Thursday evening; on Sunday afternoon, she notched the game-winning goal in UNCG’s 2-0 shutout against the Furman Lady Paladins.

Attayek is a key factor in the Spartan’s 10-3-1 overall record and so far this season has recorded 16 points (6g,4a).

UNCG, undefeated in conference play, looks to extend its 20-game conference unbeaten record this week as home. On Thursday, the Spartans welcome Appalachian State and on Sunday, host the College of Charleston. Thursday’s game begins at 7 pm and Sunday’s kickoff is set for 1 pm.
