Player, Deutschle, Corti named to FAU Classic All-Tournament Team

BOCA RATON, FL – Senior Jamie Corti, junior Heather Deutschle and freshman Kristin Player were named to the Florida Atlantic University Classic All-Tournament team today as voted on by coaches of participating teams.

Corti started in both Friday’s game against Northwestern and Saturday’s match-up against Ball State. The defender from Apex, NC helped the Spartans hold their opponents to only 15 shots and three goals on the weekend. Burlington, NC native Deutschle worked the midfield and scored both UNCG’s goals against Northwestern. The first goal came off a feed from freshman Katie Evans while the second was unassisted. Player, a native of Placentia, CA scored the game-winning and only goal in Sunday’s game against Ball State. The unassisted goal in the sixth minute was Player’s third of the season.

Also named to the All-Tournament team were Janeke Simpkins and Allyssa Eramo of FAU, Ball State’s Katelyn Alexander and Annie Aiello, and Shannon Schneeman, Kelsey Hans, Lauren Johnston, and Alicia Herczeg of Northwestern. Schneeman was named Tournament MVP.

The UNCG Spartan women’s soccer team will take on No. 6 North Carolina on Wednesday at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
