GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro women’s soccer coach Eddie Radwanski has brought in two new assistant coaches for the 2007-08 season, naming Paul Brennen and Jeff Robbins to his staff.
A member of the Salve Regina University men’s soccer team from 1993-95, Brennen is beginning his first season with UNCG. A 2004 graduate of Penn State, Brennen was a member of the men’s soccer coaching staff from 2001-04 and helped the team to the 2002 Big 10 Championship. Prior to coming to UNCG, Brennen was on both the men’s and women’s soccer coaching staffs for Mac Murray College. He holds state, regional, and national NSCAA goalkeeping licenses, as well as a national NSCAA fielding license. While with the UNCG women’s soccer program, Brennen is working towards a master’s degree in sports studies at High Point University.
Robbins, a native of Spokane, WA, is beginning his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the UNCG women’s soccer program. In Washington, Robbins spent the past 12 years with the Spokane Shadow of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). Off the field, he has served as the team’s General Manager for the past nine years. Since 1995, Robbins has served on both the USL Competition Committee and the Premier Development League (PDL) Executive Committee, and has also worked as the Super Y-League Northwest Division Director. For his dedication to the sport, Robbins was inducted to the USL Hall of Fame in 2004.
In addition to his USL and PDL commitments, Robbins has served as the Executive Director and Girls’ Director of Coaching for youth soccer in the Spokane area since 2000. Recently, his ’89 Shadow girls’ team won back-to-back USYSA State Championships (2006, 2007) at the U16 and U17 levels in the state of Washington.
UNCG opens the 2007 season on August 21 with an exhibition game against the East Carolina Pirates at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. The game is set to begin at 7:00pm.
