KANSAS CITY, KS – Two UNC Greensboro women’s soccer players were honored this past weekend at the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention in Baltimore, MD. Freshmen Katie Evans and Jenn Partenheimer were celebrated at the luncheon as they were named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas Girls High School All-American Team.
Evans was named to the All-American team as a midfielder for B roughton High School. A native of Raleigh, NC, she started 10-of-22 games for the Spartans. Positioned at midfield, she scored two goals and added five assists during her first collegiate season. In the 3-2 overtime victory against the College of Charleston (Oct. 28), Evans scored the game-winning goal off a short pass from teammate Kelly Attayek.
Named to the All-American team as a defender for Apex High School, Partenheimer played much of her time for the Spartans in the midfield. The Apex, NC native received the starting nod in 19 of her 21 games played. While on the field, she landed four goals of her own and aided in three. She punched in the game-winner during the 4-1 victory over Chattanooga on October 4. Partenheimer finished the season ranked third on the team with 11 points.
This was the second appearance on the team for 10 of the 79 total players honored at the luncheon. Another nine players were also named to the 2007 Girls Youth All-American team.
