There will be two UNCG soccer teams watching the NCAA selection show to see where they are headed on Monday as both the Spartan men's and women's soccer teams were victorious on Sunday to earn Southern Conference Tournament titles and automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.
Two-time All-American Scott Jones scored his fifth goal of the season just 10:10 into the match to give UNCG an early lead as the Spartans won their second consecutive Southern Conference Men's Soccer Tournament title, 3-0, over Georgia Southern on Sunday in Greenville, SC. It will mark UNCG's third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament field of 48.
At about the same time, Shannon Donovan was finding the net twice in the first 12 minutes of the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Tournament title match to give UNCG an early lead that it would not surrender. The Spartans cruised to a 3-1 win. UNCG will return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003.
