GREENSBORO, NC – Former UNC Greensboro women’s soccer standout Rakel Logadottir is currently participating in the 2007 Algarve Cup with the Icelandic national team, coached by former UNCG men’s soccer three-time All-American Siggi Eyjolfsson. The tournament is an annual event held in Portugal.
Logadottir started for Iceland and scored in the 1-1 draw with Ireland on March 9. She also received the start in the team’s 5-1 victory over Portugal on Monday.
Logadottir currently holds UNCG’s record for most assists in a career with 44. She is third in the program’s history in matches started (84), fourth in total points (94) and eighth in goals scored (25).
All teams will finish up pool play on Monday and the medal rounds begin Wednesday.
