SPARTANBURG, SC – Nineteen UNCG students were named to the TIAA-CREF Academic All-Conference teams for the 2006 fall season. A total of 238 student-athletes, representing all Southern Conference institutions, were named to the team.
The 238 student-athletes averaged a 3.55 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Among the 19 Spartan athletes, senior Jess Weber of the women’s cross country team recorded a Spartan best 3.96 grade point average. Weber is a Elementary Education and Psychology double major.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and have competed in at least one-half of their team’s competitions during the fall. The men’s and women’s cross country squads combined for 73 student-athletes on the academic team, with women’s soccer adding 62
