GREENWOOD, IN – Following another outstanding season on the field, UNC Greensboro women’s soccer senior forward Amy Carnell has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer All-American fourth team.
A native of Lake Stevens, WA, and a product of Lake Stevens High School, Carnell led the Spartans in 2005 with 21 points on six goals and nine assists en route to her third consecutive selection to the SoCon women’s soccer all-conference team.
Carnell finished the season with three game-winning goals and completed the year ranked second in the SoCon in assists. She also finished tied for ninth in goals and was named to the All-SoCon first team for the second straight year. She also earned SoCon Player of the Year plaudits in 2004 after netting 11 goals and collecting five assists.
In the final week of the 2005 season, Carnell wrapped up her career in a Spartan uniform in style as the senior earned SoCon Player of the Week honors for the week of November 1. Carnell collected a total of 13 points on four goals and five assists over a three-game stretch.
She opened her final week of the regular season by netting both goals for the Spartans in UNCG’s 2-0 win at Wofford. She followed that with a record-setting performance against The Citadel on Senior Night, scoring one goal and tying a school record with four assists in the Spartans’ 8-1 rout over the Bulldogs.
Carnell capped off her weekend with a goal and assist in her regular season finale Oct. 30 at Furman. For her efforts during the final week of the season, Carnell was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week during the three-game stretch.
The senior completed her illustrious career at UNCG with 35 career goals, good for fourth best on the school’s all-time list. She also recorded a total of 89 points, leaving her ranked fifth on the school’s all-time points list. Her 19 career assists also leave her tied for seventh on UNCG’s all-time list.
