UNCG moves up one spot in both women’s soccer regional polls

GREENSBORO, NC – The UNC Greensboro women’s soccer team moved up one spot in both major regional polls following their 2-2 draw at Davidson Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

The Spartans (8-5-1, 4-2-1 SoCon) check in this week ranked ninth in the NSCAA Southeast region poll and are ranked 10th in the Soccer Buzz Southeast region poll.

UNCG snapped Davidson’s seven-game winning streak inside the conference Sunday afternoon as a pair of Spartans notched the game’s first two goals.  Cara Hammond opened the game’s scoring in the first half when the senior netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season.  Reigning SoCon Freshman of the Year, Karla Davis, stretched UNCG’s lead to 2-0 in the opening minutes of the second half, scoring her second goal of the year.

The Spartans return home Friday evening at 7 pm as UNCG welcomes The Citadel to the UNCG Soccer Stadium.  Prior to the match with the Bulldogs, UNCG will honor its seven seniors in the school’s annual Senior Night celebration.
