Play suspended at Palmetto Intercollegiate with Spartans on top
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — UNCG women's golf owned a seven-stroke lead before darkness suspended play during the second round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate, Sunday at Oak Point. The second round will conclude Tuesday morning with the third round beginning immediately afterward.
After shooting a 293 during the first round Sunday morning, the Spartans were 1-over par through 15 holes of the second round before play was suspended. UNCG leads Campbell by seven strokes, while Maryland and College of Charleston are tied for third in the 18-team field.
UNCG freshman Fanny Cnops is leading the field at 2-under par. Cnops carded a 70 in the first round was even through 15 holes during the second round.
Cnops is one stroke ahead of teammate Ana Lucia Martinez (-1), who opened with a 72 and is one under par with three holes left in her second round.
Courtney Taylor is tied for 13th at 1-over par with one hole remaining in her second round. Begona Sarabia has four holes left in her second round and is tied for 32nd at 7-over par.
Berglind Bjornsdottir has two holes left in the second round and is tied for 44th at 10-over par.
