GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG fired a final-round 305 to finish third at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, Tuesday at Starmount Forest Country Club.
The Spartans finished three rounds at 917 (304-308-305), completing play 16 strokes behind tournament champion Maryland (901). The Terrapins shot a tournament-best 290 on Tuesday, winning by seven strokes over runner-up East Tennessee State (908) in the 14-team tournament.
Georgia State's Charlotte Lorentzen earned individual medalist honors, shooting 74 during the third round to finish at 218 (75-69-74).
UNCG placed two golfers in the top 10. Freshman Fanny Cnops finished tied for sixth at 224 (72-74-78), and senior Ana Lucia Martinez tied for ninth after shooting 1-over par 72 on Tuesday to finish at 226 (79-75-72).
Junior Courtney Taylor tied for 19th at 231 (77-79-75), while freshman Berglind Bjornsdottir (78-81-80) and senior Begona Sarabia (77-80-82) tied for 37th at 239.
The Spartans resume play when they participate in the East Carolina Lady Pirate Intercollegiate on Oct. 10-11 in Greenville, N.C.
