UNCG Notes: Head coach Emily Marron begins her ninth season at the helm of the Spartans this weekend … the 2011-12 Spartans feature a revamped roster of just three returning letter winners and four freshmen … among the returning veterans is junior Courtney Taylor, who ranked second on the squad in 2010-11 with a 78.25 stroke average … also returning are seniors Ana Lucia Martinez and Begona Sarabia ... newcomers include 2011 German Ladies Amateur Fanny Cnops (Gent, Belgium) and Andrea Rangel (Bogota, Columbia), one of the top junior players in Latin America … fellow freshman Berglind Bjornsdottir and Morgan Cranford round out the newcomers ... the Spartans finished t-17th at the 2010 Cougar Classic, shooting 921 (300-318-303).
Tournament Notes: Nine teams which ranked in the Golfstat.com final 2011 Top 25 rankings are participating at the 22-team Cougar Classic: Alabama (3), LSU (6), Duke (8), Tennessee (10), North Carolina (11), Georgia (14), Wake Forest (15), Vanderbilt (16) and Florida (19) … three Southern Conference teams will participate in the Cougar Classic: College of Charleston, Furman and UNCG.
