Spartans finish 10th at JMU Eagle Landing Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The UNCG women's golf team concluded its 10-day, two-tournament stay in Florida with a 10th-place finish in the 18-team JMU Eagle Landing Invite as Begonia Sarabia shot a 4-over-par 76 to lead the squad.

The Spartans finished three shots behind ninth-place Longwood and bested their nearest pursuers, Florida Gulf Coast and tournament host James Madison, by one. In all, UNCG beat four teams that entered the weekend with higher national rankings.

Sarabia tied for 23rd among individuals over the par-72, 6,282-yard Eagle Landing Golf Club course. Teammate Lizzie Bundy also shot a 76 and tied for 62nd for the Spartans, who began their spring break tour with a 15th-place showing in the Lady Gator Invitational, which featured one of the most challenging fields in the country this year.

Courtney Taylor shot a 79 Sunday and finished in a tie for 30th, while senior Erica Creed tied for 46th. Ana Lucia Martinez tied for 79th.

UNCG is back in action when it cohosts the Bryan National Collegiate with Wake Forest at Bryan Park Golf Club on March 25-27.
