GLENVIEW, Ill. - UNC Greensboro's Erica Creed carded a final round 71 to lead the Spartans to a final round 301 and a 10th place finish in the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Glen Club hosted by Northwestern University.
Creed, a junior from Kernersville, N.C., bounced back from two rounds of 77 on Monday to card a one-under par round on Tuesday. She finished tied for 26th place overall at 225.
Purdue, which had a huge lead entering the day after an opening round 279 on Monday morning, coasted to the team championship with a score of 860. The Boilermakers, the top-ranked team in the Golfstat rankings, won by 14 shots over Tulane. UNCG tied for 10th place in the strong field, alongside TCU with a score of 906.
Purdue's Maude-Aimee LeBlanc held on for the one-shot victory. After rounds of 68 and 69 on Monday, she shot a 74 on Tuesday and held on by the slimmest of margins over Michigan's Ashley Bauer, who nearly charged to a title with a 69 on Tuesday.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday, October 18, when they begin play at the Lady Pirate Invitational.
