UNCG sixth after two rounds in Augusta; Taylor fourth, Creed seventh

AUGUSTA, Ga. - UNC Greensboro carded the best team score of the second round with a 298 to move up to fourth place entering Monday's final round at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate women's golf tournament.

Freshman Courtney Taylor and senior Erica Creed are in contention for the individual title. Taylor tied for the best round of the afternoon with an even-par 72 to finish the day at five-over par 149. She is two shots back of Augusta State's Tamara Luccioli. Taylor, a native of Gastonia, N.C., who finished 10th a week ago at UCF's tournament, could have had at least a share of the clubhouse lead had it not been for a double-bogey at No. 15. She had been three-under par for the second round through 14 holes. Taylor had six birdies, two bogeys and two double bogeys in her round of 72.

Creed, a native of Kernersville, N.C., is three shots back of Luccioli in a tie for seventh after rounds of 76 and 74 on Sunday. She made her run into the Top 10 with birdies on Nos. 11, 12 and 14 during her second round of the day.

Coastal Carolina leads the team standings at 600, carding rounds of 301 and 299. Augusta State, which led after the morning round, is second at 607, followed by Western Carolina at 614, UNCG at 615, and UNC Wilmington at 618.

Monday's final round will be played with tee times starting at 8 a.m. The Spartans will be playing with UNC Wilmington and Middle Tennessee State beginning with the 8:50 a.m. group.
