GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro
women’s golf coach Emily Marron announced Wednesday the
signing of Rachel Uremovich and Courtney Taylor during the National
Letter of Intent program’s signing period.
Uremovich is a resident of Hilton Head, SC and a product of Hilton
Head HS. She won the 2008 South Carolina Junior Girls title and has
been a member of the Carolinas Golf Association team the last three
years. She won the CGA Twin States Championship in 2006 and the
South Carolina Match Play that same year. She earned the South
Carolina Beth Daniel Award in 2006, given to the top player in the
SCJGA annually, and the 2006 CGA Player of the Year Award. She also
played for Team USA in the America-Canada Cup in 2006.
Taylor attends Ashbrook HS and is a native of Gastonia, NC. She finished second in the North Carolina State 4A Championship each of the last two seasons and has been on the Carolinas Golf Association team the last two years. In 2007, she won the CGA Match Play Championship.
"We are thrilled to welcome Rachel and Courtney and their families into our family here at UNCG,” said Marron. “Rachel is a very accomplished player and brings an abundance of national experience to our team. She has a true passion for the game, and continues to improve every time I watch her play. With Rachel's resume I am confident that she can come into UNCG and make an immediate impact on our program.
"Courtney is a tremendous player and knows how to win. She is one of the best players out of North Carolina for her class, and I truly feel her best golf is still yet to come. We will look forward to Courtney adding consistency to our program as well as leadership. Both Courtney and Rachel will be tremendous assets to our team."
UNCG opens the spring portion of its schedule on Feb. 15 when it opens place at the Qdoba Challenge in Miami, FL.
