Creed's 78 leads the way for UNCG on opening day of Bryan National
BROWN SUMMIT, N.C. – UNC Greensboro’s Erica Creed carded an opening round 78 to lead the way for the Spartans on the opening day of the Bryan National Collegiate women’s golf tournament at Bryan Park on Friday.
The tournament features 15 teams ranked in the Top 50 of the GolfStat rankings currently. UNCG is tied for 17th place after an opening round 320, deadlocked with 19th-ranked Ohio State.
Creed went out at even par with 36 on the front side, but six straight bogeys to begin the back took her out of the leaders and into a tie for 37th place.
LSU is atop the team standings, being the only team that fought off wind gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour. The Tigers shot 290 on the opening day to hold a 14-shot lead over Virginia and Wake Forest. UNCG carded an opening round score of 320.
LSU’s Tessa Teachman had an incredible day considering the elements. She had 14 pars and four birdies on her way to a four-under 68 to hold the lead after the opening round. She has a four shot lead over TCU’s Valentine Derrey after 18 holes.
Saturday’s second round gets underway with tee times at 8:20 am off Nos. 1 and 10. UNCG’s players will go off of No. 10 beginning in the first grouping.
