UNCG closes out play at Qdoba, finishes 12th

MIAMI, Fla. – Sofia Aidemark carded a final round 76 to finish as UNC Greensboro’s top golfer at Qdoba Invitiational as the Spartans finished 12th among 14 teams at the spring season opening tournament on Tuesday.

Aidemark’s final round score of 76 gave her a total of 233 for the 54-hole tournament and a 31st place finish individually. Freshman Lauren Smith had the team’s best round of the day on Tuesday with a 75, the lowest score by a Spartan in the three day tourney.

Louisville’s Cindy LaCrosse fired her second consective 72 to win the individual title. LaCrosse’s 54-hole total of 218 was two shots better than Georgia State’s Iliska Verwey.

The Spartans finished with a team score of 948, good for 12t h place. Georgia State won the tournament with a score of 891, nine shots better than Tulane, which shot the best score of the day on Tuesday with a 294. Louisville was third with a score of 901.

UNCG returns to action on March 2 at the Pinehust Challenge.
