UNCG alumn Jenny Gleason earns LPGA non-exempt status

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – UNC Greensboro alumnus Jenny Gleason came through in the final round of LPGA qualifying school to earn a spot on next year’s tour for the third consecutive year on Sunday.

Gleason fired a 74 in Sunday’s final 18 holes to earn non-exempt status for next year, which will mark the third straight year she will have partial playing privileges on the LPGA Tour. The top 17 golfers earned exempt status for next year’s tour, while 37 others earned non-exempt status.

A native of Clearwater, FL, Gleason has played mostly on the FUTURES Tour for the last four years. She has played in 57 events in that time, making the cut in all but seven and recording 11 Top 10 finishes. Last season, she also picked up three wins on the NGA Tour.

In 16 LPGA events over the last two seasons, Gleason has made the cut five times. This past season, she recorded her lowest LPGA Tour round twice when she fired a 69 in the second round at both the LPGA Corning Classic and the Navistar LPGA Classic.

Gleason was a four-time All-Southern Conference honoree at UNCG, winning three times during her collegiate career. As a senior in 2002-03, she tied Becky Morgan’s 54-hole mark of 217 at the Louisville Cardinal Cup.
