UNCG moves up to 10th on final day at Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Ashley Mylton’s final round 73 led UNC Greensboro to a 10th place finish at the Landfall Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Country Club of Landfall.

Mylton, a senior from Charlotte, had a solid final round with 11 pars to go along with three birdies and four bogeys to finish in a tie for 19th place with a tournament total of 226.

Wake Forest’s Nannette Hill held on for the individual title on a wild final day. Hill, who shot a 66 on Saturday, shot 76 on Sunday but it was enough to hold off Purdue’s Maria Hernandez and Michigan State’s Laura Kueny. Second round leader Christel Boeljon fell to eighth place after an 81 on Sunday, while Wake Forest’s Laura Crawford, who began the day just a shot back in a tie with Hill, fell to seventh with a 79.

Wake Forest won the team title, finishing nine shots ahead of Purdue by carding an 878. The Spartans, 11th after both the first and second rounds, moved up to 10t h on Sunday with a final total of 942.

The Landfall Intercollegiate was the final tournament in the Spartans’ fall schedule. UNCG returns to action February 22 at the Lady Gator Invite in Gainesville, FL.
