HANAHAN, S.C. – UNC Greensboro’s women’s golf team wrapped up play at its season-opening tournament on Tuesday and finished in 17th place.
The Spartans shot a final round 316 to finish with a tournament score of 922. Annelie Weimenhog, a sophomore from Kattarp, Sweden, was UNCG’s top finisher, placing in a tie for 54th place. She shot a final round 77, the Spartans’ lowest score on Tuesday, to finish 12-over par for the tournament. Teammate Ashley Mylton was one shot behind her in a tie for 58th place, carding a 79 on Tuesday.
Notre Dame won the team title with a score of 870, one shot better than Tennessee and five shots better than Texas and Alabama. Notre Dame’s Lisa Maunu rallied to win the individual title. The first round leader who faltered yesterday, Maunu shot a final round 70 to finish at 210, topping teammate So-Hyun Park by three shots for medalist honors. Tennessee’s Marci Turner was third at 214.
UNCG returns to action in two weeks at the Myrtle Beach Classic.
