SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro freshman Erica Creed was named the Southern Conference’s Women’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday for her outstanding performance this past week.
Creed, a native of Kernersville, NC, finished recorded her first ever Top 5 finish on Tuesday when she finished second at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Intercollegiate. Creed recorded rounds of 74, 70 and 73 to finish in a tie for first after 54 holes, but lost in a playoff to UNCW's Carmen Perez-Narbon. Creed's round of 70 tied her season best and her 54-hole total of 217 was seven shots better than her previous best. Her second place finish helped the Spartans to a second place finish in the tournament, one shot behind North Carolina State.
Creed is currently 13th in the conference in scoring, averaging 76.96 strokes per round. She is fifth among rookies in the conference.
UNCG competes next at the Southern Conference Championship beginning April 20 at Stono Ferry GC near Charleston, SC.
