BROWN SUMMIT, N.C. – Fighting difficult weather conditions, UNC Greensboro was able to maintain its position of 15th place in the second round of the 2008 Bryan National at Bryan Park’s Players Course on Saturday afternoon.
UNCG senior Ashley Mylton is in a tied for 26th, moving up five spots after shooting a 77 in Saturday’s rain and wind. That was the best score by a Spartan on the day.
Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis took the lead on Saturday with a three-under 69 to take the lead at five-under. She had four birdies and a bogey on the day. Starting the day on No. 7, she recorded her lone bogey of the round in her first hole and then went the rest of the day with 13 pars and four birdies, including closing the day out with birdies on Nos. 4 and 6.
Lewis has a four-shot lead over Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst and College of Charleston’s Steffi Kirchmayr. Kirchmayr, the first round leader, shot a 74 on Saturday, while Blumenherst fired a 73.
Duke leads in the team standings, but the lead shrunk to just one shot on Saturday. Duke is first at 598, followed by Florida with 599, Auburn at 604 and Furman at 605.
Sunday’s final round will get underway at 9:30 am with a shotgun start.
