Mylton's final round 72 helps UNCG to ninth place at The Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. -  UNC Greensboro’s Ashley Mylton fired even-par 72 on Sunday to help the Spartans to a final round 308 and a ninth place finish at The Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington at Landfall Country Club.

After rounds of 79 and 80 the first two days, Mylton played the course at even-par on Sunday with three birdies and three bogies on the day to finish in a tie for 18t h place. Teammate Annelie Weimenhog shot a 76 on Sunday and wound up one shot behind Mylton  in a tie for 22nd place.

Michigan State’s Sara Brown held on for the individual title. The second round leader after firing a 69 yesterday, Brown shot a 72 on Sunday to hold off Wake Forest’s Mandy Goins for a four-shot victory. Goins shot a 70 on Sunday, one of two sub-par rounds among the 60 players.

Despite a difficult final round, Virginia held on to win the team title over Michigan State in a fifth-player scorecard tiebreaker. The teams wound up deadlocked atop the team standings at 902 after Michigan State shot just seven-over as a team on Sunday and Virginia shot 18-over to see its comfortable 11 shot lead disappear.

The Landfall Tradition was UNCG’s last tournament of the fall schedule. The Spartans return to action the first week of February at the Baja Invite in Baja, Mexico.
