Ashley Parrott takes runner-up honors at 2007 Tennessee Women’s Amateur Championship

MARYVILLE, TN – UNC Greensboro’s Ashley Parrott claimed runner-up honors at the Tennessee Women’s Amateur Championship at the Green Meadow Country Club on June 15.

Parrott, a Johnson City, TN native, fell to Dawn Woodard seven and five in the championship round. Woodard had the early advantage and was up four through four holes but Parrott gained some momentum back after tying No. 7 and No. 9 and winning No. 8.

Woodard was able to gain her momentum back after the turn and closed out the match after winning three of the next four holes to end the match at seven and five at hole No. 13. The rising senior had a good week of golf and in the championship round recorded eight birdies.

The Women's Amateur Championship is one of sixteen championships conducted by the Tennessee Golf Association.

Parrott put together a solid sophomore campaign at UNCG last year. She shot a final round 71 at the Southern Conference Championships in April to lead the Spartans to a fourth place finish. She finished the tournament tied for fifth place individually for the best finish of her collegiate career. Her final round 71 was also her best round of her career, two shots better than her previous low.
