UNCG women’s golf signs two recruits for next season

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro women’s golf coach Emily Marron announced Tuesday the signing of Annelie Weimenhog and Sofia Aidemark as part of the National Letter of Intent program’s early signing period.

A native of Kattarp, Sweden, Weimenhog earned a second place finish in her first event on the Riks level at the Bankboken Tour Riks Trosa Golf Club in 2003 after firing a three-day total of 232 (79-75-78).  That same year, she went on to finish first at the Bankboken Tour No. 4 while also capturing a second place finish at the Bankboken Tour Riks Order of Merits.

Weimenhog claimed a seventh place finish at the Swedish Junior Championship Match Play and won the Nike Open at Trosa Golf Club.  She was also named the best junior at Allerum Golf Club from 2002-05 and holds the Allerum Golf Club record for the women’s tee and the back tee distances after shooting a three-under 69.

Aidemark, a product of Laholm, Sweden, has competed in two tournaments on the Telia Tour, the professional golf tour for women in Sweden.  She won the Hallands Final from 2002-04 and finished second at the Club Championship Juniors in 2005.  Aidemark also picked up a third place finish in 2005 in Club Championship Ladies.

"We are very excited about having Annelie and Sofia join our program next year.  Women's College Golf is seeing an influx of Swedish players who continue to get better with each year,” Marron said.  “Both Annelie and Sofia are not only great players, but more importantly have tremendous work ethics and have a true passion for the game.  I am confident they will find success here at UNCG and will help us take steps forward with our women's golf program."
