MORGANTON, NC -- UNCG golfers Ashley Mylton and Jennifer Link are both in contention after the first round at the 57th Annual North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship held at Mimosa Hills CC.
Mylton fired an opening round 73 on Tuesday to place her in a tie for fourth, two shots off the lead. Link is four shots back after her opening round 75, placing her in a tie for 11th in the championship flight.
Emily Street and Debbie Adams are tied for the lead at one-under 71. Adams won the 2004 State Amateur title.
Second round action was slated for Wednesday, weather permitting.
