Janae’ Stevenson Named BCBSNC Blue Chip Performer

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's basketball junior forward Janae' Stevenson (Columbia, S.C./Eau Claire) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. The Blue Chip Performer will be chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run throughout the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign. 

Stevenson has averaged 17 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Spartans' last two contests. She produced her first double-double of the season and sixth of her career at UAB by scoring a career-high 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. She followed that performance with a team-high, 14-point outing against league-leading Chattanooga at Fleming Gymnasium Saturday.

Stevenson has started seven of 12 games this season, including the last four. She leads the Spartans in rebounding at 5.7 per contest and is second in scoring average at 10 points per game. Stevenson also paces the Blue and Gold with 25 offensive rebounds as UNCG is second in the league with an average of 15.4.   

UNCG hosts defending SoCon champion Samford tonight (Jan. 7) at 7 p.m. inside Fleming Gymnasium.
