GREENSBORO, N.C. - High school seniors Janae Stevenson and Colleen Nosovitch have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball for UNC Greensboro in 2010-11, UNCG coach Lynne Agee announced Tuesday.

Stevenson, a 6-1 post player out of Columbia, S.C., averaged 13.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a senior for Eau Claire High School. Stevenson helped the Shamrocks to a 25-1 record on the season, as the squad won its first 25 games before falling in the Class 2A semifinals.

A three-time all-region and all-state tournament performer, Stevenson was recently named the Class 2A All-Area Player of the Year by The (Columbia) State and was selected to represent South Carolina in the Carolinas All-Star Classic following the season. She has also been rewarded for her work in the classroom, as she was honored at the Richland One Academic All-Stars banquet.

Stevenson was also an all-state volleyball player and the Region 4 2A Player of the Year. She was selected for the North-South All-Star Game. WLXT in Columbia also named her its player of the year.

"We're very excited about Janae Stevenson and her future at UNCG," Agee said. "She obviously is a terrific athlete, competing in both volleyball and basketball with outstanding credentials and lots of success under her belt in both sports. She comes to us from a winning program, and that in itself is a great constant. She already knows how to win and is used to winning. We think that she can bring us the improvement we need on the boards. Janae obviously brings another talent, as well, and that is her success in the classroom. That's always a major factor for us. I think the combination of her athletics and academics give her a lot of drive and ambition for her to perform well here."

Nosovitch, a 5-11 post player out of Allentown, Pa., scored 14.2 points per game and pulled down 8.4 rebounds per game for Allentown Central Catholic School. An all-state player for the Vikettes, Nosovitch was a three-time Lehigh Valley Conference performer and was the LVC MVP as a senior. She helped Central Catholic to four District 11 Class 3A titles and a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 3A quarterfinals appearance as a senior.

She was named the Girls Basketball Player of the Year by The (Allentown) Morning Call in 2009-10 and played in the Via All-Star Classic, a senior all-star game.

Nosovitch also played volleyball, helping the Vikettes to a pair of state titles and two other finals appearances. She was an honorable mention LVC selection in volleyball.

"Colleen Nosovitch is the style of a smaller post player at about 5-11. She handles the basketball, she's a very good passer, and is a good high-low combination in the post position, which is what we run. We run a double post with that 4 inside and outside. She can shoot face-up, so she gives us that combo skill in the post position. She can go outside as well as inside. She's very quick up to the ball. She's good and strong.

"We're excited about signing two post players and we think both of these signees will have an impact on our program."

Stevenson and Nosovitch join a recruiting class that includes fall signees Nneka Awuruonye and Breonna Patterson.
