Dixon earns her second SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week Award

SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro senior forward Jasmine Dixon was named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week it was announced Tuesday.

Dixon graduated last May with a 4.0 grade point average in Communications and African American Studies and is currently working towards her master’s degree. The Reston, VA, native was also inducted into UNCG’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, a national academic honor society.   She currently boasts a 3.85 grade point average in her graduate coursework.

Since being inserted into the starting lineup against Western Carolina, Dixon has averaged 8.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. In two games last week, Dixon averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds. She produced a .600 field goal percentage on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor and was 7-of-15 from the free throw line. The senior was in double figures for both games, her first streak of consecutive games in double figures this season.

The Spartans are back on the hardwood Jan. 26 when they welcome backyard rival, Elon to Fleming Gymnasium. Saturday’s game will be a part of UNCG’s Women’s Weekend and will feature the jersey recognition of former women’s basketball player, Rita Wiggs at halftime. Game time is set for 3 pm.
