The Spartans were running on very little sleep after arriving at their hotel in Lake Como at 2 am and then spending the day sightseeing in Venice. The Spartans started to hit their rhythm in the opening minutes of the second frame, led by Ashley Mullins. Mullins, who was appearing in just her second game after injuring her thumb in early December. netted five points in UNCG’s 7-0 run to open the quarter. That sparked UNCG to a 45-23 lead at halftime.
Thermal made a run early in the second half to get back within 16 but UNCG held its ground from there. The Italians could not get closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
