GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's softball team participated in the 20th Annual Triad Health Project's Winter Walk for AIDS on Sunday, with each team member making donations and walking in the event.
The three-mile walk started at War Memorial Stadium and went through downtown Greensboro. The event raised money and awareness for those affected by HIV and AIDS, with thousands of people participating.
As a team, the Spartans donated $100 for the event, while the team raised an additional $100 through online donations.
"We had a great time, and it was for a tremendous cause," UNCG coach Jennifer Herzig said. "The turnout was just unbelievable. Our team is committed to serving the community, and this was an excellent opportunity to do so. This was the first time we had participated in the Winter Walk, but it's definitely something we'll continue to do in the future."
