Aisha Figueroa Pan Am Games blog 1: The early days of practice

UNCG sophomore third baseman Aisha Figueroa will be playing with Puerto Rico's full national softball team at the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, from Oct. 17-23. Every few days, Figueroa will check in with UNCGSpartans.com for a blog on how the trip is going, from the days leading up to the tournament to the games themselves. Below is her first entry, talking about the team's first days of training in Miami as it prepares to head to Mexico.

So I arrived in Miami on Friday around 11 p.m. and by the time I got in bed, it was about 1:30. The next day, we had a 6 a.m. workout, which consisted of some speed and agility stuff, along with strengthening. After our workout, we had some batting practice, then we went and had some lunch. We were supposed to play at 6 and 8 that night, but it rained, so our games got canceled. So we ended up just having another team practice at 4:30 and we finished around 6:30, then had dinner and that was it for that day. Sunday, we did the same thing because our games got canceled again. Then Monday, we left for our practice at 10 a.m., did defense first, then hit some, then worked out. We got to play two games against Miami Dade College, and it was the first time we all played together on the field in a game situation. It was kind of nerve-racking, but we worked through it. We tied the first game and won the second game. The team is looking good so far and can only get better from here!
