Lacrosse, softball camps kick off next week on UNCG campus
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Deadlines are fast approaching for a pair of summer camps on the UNCG campus, as the lacrosse and softball camps get under way next week.
UNCG athletics will offer a lacrosse summer day camp beginning on Monday, June 13, and lasting through Thursday, June 16. This full day camp will expose youth ages 7-18 years old to interactive training techniques and maximize offensive and defensive skill sets.
Dan Cetrone, the men's lacrosse coach at Greensboro College, will serve as the field instructor of the UNCG Lacrosse Camp. Cetrone has coached the Pride of Greensboro College for the past 12 seasons.
UNCG softball will host a hitting clinic Tuesday-Thursday, June 14-16, designed for all hitters from 8-18 years old. This clinic is designed to teach proper swing mechanics. Various hitting drills will be covered, including a fundamental breakdown of the swing, instruction of contact points, hip drive and the swing finish.
A pitcher/catcher clinic will also be offered June 14-16, designed for all pitchers and catchers ages 8 to 18 years old. Basic pitching techniques will be reviewed, as well as instruction on breaking pitches. Pitch movement and speed development instruction will be available for the advanced pitchers.
Hitting clinic camp hours are from 9-11:30 a.m. Pitcher/catcher clinic hours are from 1-3:30 p.m.
UNCG softball coach Jennifer Herzig will conduct on-field instruction. Herzig has coached the Spartans for the past six seasons.
