UNCG to face third-seeded Georgia Southern at SoCon tourney

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG has earned the sixth seed in the Southern Conference Softball Championship and will face tournament host and third-seeded Georgia Southern on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Eagle Field in Statesboro, Ga.
The Spartans finished the regular season 24-30 overall with a 10-14 mark in SoCon play. The Eagles went 28-27 overall and 16-8 in league play.
The Eagles swept a three-game series from UNCG in Statesboro on April 22-23.
UNCG downed Georgia Southern in the SoCon tournament last season, eliminating the Eagles and advancing to the title game. The Spartans, who won two games at the tournament for the school-record fourth straight season, played for the title for the first time in school history.
