Bedwell named to Canadian Junior Women's National Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Incoming UNC Greensboro freshman Katelyn Bedwell has been named to the Canadian Junior Women's National Team, Softball Canada announced Wednesday.
Bedwell, a catcher from Surrey, British Columbia, was one of 17 players selected to the team. The squad will compete at the III Pan American Softball Championship from Aug. 6-15 in Bogota, Colombia. That tournament will serve as a qualifier for the International Softball Federation IX Junior Women's World Championship, which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from Dec. 6-17, 2011.
Bedwell and her JWNT teammates participated in regional evaluation camps last year, with an athlete pool being named in December 2009. The players from that pool took part in a selection camp in Brampton, Ontario, this week before being selected to the team.
