SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro right handed pitcher Hannah Angel was awarded the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week after leading the Spartans to a sweep of Furman in the final regular season series last weekend.
Angel earns her first Southern Conference award after leading the Spartans to a series sweep of Furman, their first of the season in the final weekend of the regular season. The Eastbend, NC native twirled two complete games and scattered 11 hits over 15.0 innings while allowing just one run and striking out 15.
The junior is 4-0 in her last five outings and has a 1.17 ERA. She has thrown four complete games and allowed six runs on 27 hits in 36.0 innings of work to go along with 35 strikeouts. For the season she has 161 strikeouts which place her fifth on UNCG’s single-season list and for her career she has 359 which is currently sixth all-time at UNCG.
Her stellar pitching has helped UNCG to move up to fifth place in the final regular season league standings earning the No. 5 seed in this week’s Southern Conference Tournament. The Spartans will take on No. 4 seed Elon in opening day action at College of Charleston’s Patriots Point Softball Stadium.
