CHATTANOOGA, TN – Junior first baseman Jennifer Bonilla of the UNC Greensboro softball team was selected to the All-Southern Conference second team on Wednesday at the annual awards banquet in Chattanooga, TN.
Bonilla hit .322 with a team-leading 11 doubles to go with two home runs, 22 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 56 games this season. She was a pre-season first team selection by the league’s head coaches.
The Hope Mills, NC, native was a first team selection in 2005 and also garnered second team plaudits during her freshman season of 2004.
Shanita Black of Georgia Southern was named the Player of the Year. Western Carolina swept the remaining awards with Mendy McKenzie being tabbed Pitcher of the Year, Jenny Jackson as the Freshman of the Year and Megan Smith was selected as the Coach of the Year.
