Track
Qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round with
the second-fastest time in the 5,000-meter race (13:36.27) ...
Posted his third fastest 5,000-meter time of his career and fastest
of the season at 13:36.27 at the Payton Jordan Invitational (April
28) at Stanford … He finished 19th overall in the
race that included professionals and former Olympians … His
time of 13:36.27 is the 10th-fastest time in NCAA
Division I as of May 1 and the third best time in the NCAA East
Region … Named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of
the Week for his efforts at the Payton Jordan … Named the
SoCon Runner of the Week (April 3) after posting a ninth place
finish in the 5,000-meter race at the Stanford Invitational (March
30) … Posted his top 1,500-meter time of the year
finishing second at the Wake Forest Open (March 15-16) at 3:49.27
… Led the 1,500-meter race at the Southern Conference
Championships (April 20-21) but was disqualified for impeding
… Posted a personal-best mile time at 4:08.06 to win the Bob
Davidson Mile at the High Point VertKlasse Meet (March 22-23).
2012-13 Indoor
Track
Won the Southern Conference Championship (Feb.
23-24) in the 3,000-meter race, marking his sixth title in the
league in all events with two cross country, an indoor mile last
year, an outdoor 1,500-meter race and a distance-medley
championship in the outdoor season … Posted a time of
8:09.07, winning by 1.68 over his nearest competitor and setting a
facility record at the JDL Fast Track … Turned in his
fastest time of the year in the 3,000-meter distance with a
time of 8:06.71 at the Flotrack Husky Classic (Feb. 9), where
he finished 16th overall … Finished seventh
overall in the Elite Mile race at the Hilton Garden Invitational
(Feb. 1-2) with a time of 4:09.41.

Country
Named the Southern Conference Runner of the Year
for the second straight season after winning the SoCon Cross
Country Championships with a time of 23:42.22 (Oct. 27) …
Ran three fastest times in the Southern Conference in the
8,000-meter distance … Won the SoCon Championships by 15
seconds over his nearest competitor … Finished second in the
NCAA Southeast Regional for the second straight year …
Posted a 10,000-meter time of 29:36.51 at McAlpine Park in
Charlotte (Nov. 9) to set another UNCG-program record at that
distance … Trimmed three seconds from his 10,000-meter time
set the year prior at the same race … Earned NCAA Division I
All-America status by placing 10th in the NCAA National
Championship race in Louisville (Nov. 17) … Improved three
spots in the race from the prior year … Set another
UNCG-program record in the 10,000-meter race with a time of
29:29.80 … Two-time SoCon Runner of the Month (September and
October) … Named SoCon Runner of the Week Oct. 17 and SoCon
Student-Athlete of the Week Oct. 31 … Two-time Blue Chip
Performer of the Week … Posted a third place finish at the
Greater Louisville Classic (Sept. 29) with a program-record time of
22:59.62 in the 8,000-meter race … Added a time of 26:18.40
in the Pre-Nationals race in Louisville (Oct. 13).

Outdoor
Set a school record and personal best time of
3:40.25 in the 1,500m at the Raleigh Relays, which was the fastest
time in the country at that time for that distance (Mar 30)
… earned top individual honors in the 1,500 meters at
the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships (Apr 22) …
lowered his own personal best and school record time in the 5,000m
at the Payton Jordan Invitational with a time of 13:21.89 to finish
eighth overall (Apr 29) … won the 5,000m at the NCAA East
Preliminary Rounds in a time of 14:00.51 (May 26) … national
runner-up in the 5,000m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des
Moines, Iowa, crossing the line in a time of 13:41.04, earning
first-team All America honors (June 6).
2011-12
Indoor
Won the 3,000m at the prestigious Meyo Invitational with
a personal best and school record setting time of 7:49.87 (Feb 4)
… set the school record in the mile run at the Spire
Invitational with a personal best time of 4:02.80, finishing first
overall (Feb 11) … Southern Conference Champion in the mile
run with a time of 4:06.57 (Feb 24) … placed fourth in the
3,000m at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 7:50.26 to
garner All-America honors (Mar 10).
2011
Cross Country
Undefeated through the first four meets of the
season … set 8,000 meter school record at the SoCon Cross
Country Championships in 23:11 to take the individual title (Oct
29) … named SoCon Runner of the Year… second overall
at the prestigious NCAA Southeast Regional in a time of 29:52 (Nov
12) … finished 13th overall at the NCAA
Cross Country Championships with a personal record time of 29:39
for 10,000 meters (Nov 21) … became first Spartan runner to
earn All-America cross country honors.

Attended Shorter University in Rome, Ga. where he
ran for coach Jay Stephenson … helped lead his team to a
10th place finish at the NAIA National Championship
after running the 8k course in a time of 24:44 to finish in third
place … was named the Southern States Athletic Conference
Cross Country Runner of the Year … named the NAIA National
Runner of the Week twice in cross country … took home top
individual honors at the Southern States Athletic Conference
Championship to also earn all-conference honors … also
finished in first as an individual at the Berry XC Invitational and
the Southeast Classic in cross country … helped lead his
team to a National Championship in indoor track after winning the
national title in the 3,000 meters and distance medley relay at the
event … also helped lead his team to an NAIA National
Championship in outdoor track … won the national title
during the outdoor season in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters …
won the conference title in the 1,500 and 10,000 meters, as well as
a member of the 4x800 meter relay team … was also a two-time
NAIA National Runner of the Week in outdoor track.

Kenya for coach Reuben Kirrah … competed in the 800, 1,500
and 5,000 meters in track & field … also played on the
soccer team that won its district title.

Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo … born Oct. 27, 1990 in
Iten, Kenya … son of Gabriel Suter and Roselyne Cheruiyot
… has four siblings, Moses Kiptoo, Denis Chelimo, Alberto
Chelimo and Emmanuela Chelimo … majoring in pre-nursing at
