Spartans set for Greensboro XC Invitational on Saturday
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Coming off a great weekend that saw both teams claim individual and team titles at the Elon Invitational, UNCG returns to action this weekend as the Spartans will compete at the 27th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational on Saturday.
The women's 5k race will begin at 1 p.m., while the men's 8k race will start at 1:45 p.m. at Hagan Stone Park.
The Spartans will be competing against over 40 other schools in the two races.
Last week, Mike Koech broke the 8k school record for UNCG on his way to claiming top individual honors. Joey Thompson was right behind him in second place and AJ Savoia, Andy Clyne and Kenny Hinman also posted top-10 finishes to lead the Spartans to the men's team title.
On the women's side, Ashley Schnell posted the third-best time in school history as she won the women's race for the Spartans. Also in the top-10 for UNCG was Shaina Sumney, Ginny Cronley and Kerry Hartman as the women's team also won its team title.
Schnell was also named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance last weekend and her perfect 4.0 GPA in musical performance.
