UNCG finishes second in Commissioner's Cup, fifth in Germann Cup
CHARLESTON, S.C. – After a 2010-11 academic year that saw UNCG turn in competitive showings in virtually every sport, the Spartans finished second in the race for the Commissioner’s Cup and fifth in the extremely tight standings for the Germann Cup, the Southern Conference all-sports trophies for excellence in league competition.

UNCG, Schnell named USTFCCCA All-Academic
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The UNCG men’s and women’s cross country teams were honored this week as they both earned All-Academic team honors, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced this week. Junior Ashley Schnell also claimed All-Academic Cross Country status as an individual.

UNCG places 26 on Academic All-SoCon Team
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Twenty-six UNCG student-athletes earned spots on the Academic All-Southern Conference Team for the fall semester, the league office announced Monday. Men’s soccer player Peyton Ford and SoCon Female Cross Country Runner of the Year Ashley Schnell accounted for two of the 11 4.0 grade point averages on the 345-member squad.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UNCG' Mike Koech finished in 28th place, just three spots out of earning All-Region honors, with a time of 31:20.07 to break his own school record.

Also, part of the men’s team ran in the Navy race, where Tyron Alston won the individual title and the team finished in first place.
