GREENSBORO, NC – Freshman Joey Thompson wrapped up competition at the 2009 USA Cross Country Championships in Derwood, MD on Saturday afternoon with a 38th place finish.
Running in the junior men’s 8k race, Thompson ran the eight kilometers in a time of 26:32. The top six finishers in the race earned spots on the national team that will compete in Amman, Jordan at the World Cross Country Championships.
Thompson will rejoin his teammates next weekend as they compete at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, NC, on Friday.
