WILLIAMSBURG, VA – The UNC Greensboro women’s cross country team, paced by a 48th place finish from Sherrika Jordan, took eighth place at the Colonial Inter-Regional on Saturday. The men’s team, led by Ryan Rodd also took eighth place.
The woman, led by Jordan for the second consecutive race, placed two runners in the Top 65. Jordan, who finished 48th was joined by freshman Michelle Chewens who finished 64th with at time of 24:39.80 over the 5K course. Sophomore Carly Magin finished just outside of the Top 65, taking 66th place with a time of 24:44.50.
Virginia Tech’s Tazmin Fanning won the women’s race with a time of 20:21.30 and led the Hokies to a first-place team finish.
On the men’s side, Ryan Rodd was UNCG’s top performer. The West Hartford, CT native, finished in 73rd place with a time of 27:04.60. Freshman Anthony Savoia was the next finisher for the Spartans finishing the 8K course with a time of 27:09.10, good for a 76th place finish.
Georgetown’s Andrew Bumbalough took the men’s individual title with a time of 24:13.1. The Hoyas placed six runners in the Top 10 en route to the men’s team title.
The Spartans will take a week off before returning to action Oct. 12 when they head to the Blue Ridge Mountain Open in Boone, NC.
