Thompson, Spartans wrap up Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - Sophomore Joey Thompson narrowly won the 800 meter race for UNC Greensboro on the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.

Thompson, who ran a time of 1:54.13, won his event by just .03 seconds over Clemson's Jason Turnbull. His time was also the second-fastest in school history, just .56 seconds off the school record set by Jeff Williams in 2006.

Jermaine Coore and AJ Savoia also had nice days as they both poster top-20 finishes in the 3,000 meters.

On the women's side, Jade Farlow led a trio of Spartans in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.41.

The Spartans will return to action on Thursday as they travel up the mountain to compete in the Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C.
