Koech, Savoia pace Spartans at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - Mike Koech and AJ Savoia finished sixth and seventh in the 5,000 meters, respectively, while Tiffany Garber won her section of the 5,000 meters for UNC Greensboro on the first day of the Raleigh Relays on Friday at Paul Derr Track.

Koech's time of 15:00.54 in the third section of the 5,000 meters was the third-fastest time in school history. Savoia finished just behind him with a time of 15:02.58 finishing in seventh. That time was the fourth-best in school history.

Garber, running in the women's third section of the 5,000 meters, won her section by over three seconds. Her time of 18:36.79 was just four seconds off of her personal-best.

The Spartans will compete tomorrow in the 1,500 meters and 4x800 meter relay during the final day of the Raleigh Relays.
