Thompson, Wyatt named All-SoCon as Spartans wrap up 2009 SoCon Championships

STATESBORO, GA – TJ Wyatt and Joey Thompson were both named All-SoCon on day two as UNC Greensboro wrapped up competition at the 2009 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday afternoon.

Wyatt finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.95. He nearly claimed the championship in the event, but was just .13 seconds out of first place.

Thompson was also a runner up, as he finished second in the 1,500 meters. His time of 3:52.27 broke the previous school record that he set earlier this year by over two and a half seconds. He also earned all-freshman honors in that event for his efforts.

Tiffany Garber led the women as she finished seventh in the 5,000 meters. Her time of 18:39.31 was the second-best time this season for the team.

The 4x400 meter relay team turned in a time of 4:19.99 on Sunday, which was the fourth-best time in school history.
