Mens distance medley relay finishes second at SoCon Championships
CLEMSON, SC – The UNC Greensboro men’s distance medley relay finished in second place with a time of 10:19.95 to led the UNC Greensboro indoor track and field team at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships on Friday.
Appalachian State leads the meet on both the men and women’s sides. The UNCG men are sitting in fifth place while the women are in ninth place.
In preliminary action in the 800m Terry Wyatt and Taylor Hurst both set new personal records. Wyatt finished in second place in his heat with a time of 1:57.07 while Hurst finished third in his heat with a time of 1:57.06, shaving nearly two minutes off of his personal best.
In the men’ 3000m freshman Anthony Savoia finished in 10 h place in his heat with a time of 8:49.29 also a new personal record while Ryan Rodd took a 12th place finish with a time of 8:52.63.
In women’s action the Spartans had three runners in the 800m event and was led by a personal best from Michelle Chewens. The Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY native finished fifth in her heat with a time of 2:26.98 while teammate and school record holder, Jess Weber finished her heat in fourth place with a time of 2:26.24.
UNCG continues action at the SoCon Indoor Championships on Saturday.
