UNCG men record two Top 10 finishes in 5000m to open Carolina Classic

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Josh Wyatt and Xavier Rutz finished in sixth and tenth place in the men’s 5000 meter race to lead the UNC Greensboro track team at the Carolina Classic on Friday night.

Wyatt was UNCG’s top finisher on the afternoon and took sixth place with a time of 15:19.03 which sets a new personal record for the Hope Mills, NC native. Rutz finished in 10th place with a time of 15:26.75 while Justin Ruppe took home 22nd place with a time of 16:25.27.

Mary Ann Rutz also ran the 5000m and finished in 15th place with a time of 19:28.68, shaving over a minute off her previous personal best of 20:35.46. 

UNCG concludes action at the Carolina Classic Saturday.
